Martin County Library System Wins Award For Its Friends’ Book Depot
The Martin County Library System’s Friends’ Book Depot has received a statewide award from FLA. One of two winners chosen from seven applicants in the Special Projects category for a library related project carried out by the Friends, the Friends’ Book Depot was selected by the Friends, Foundations & Boards Section of FLA as an "outstanding example of collaboration among the six Friends Groups of Martin County…" The award was presented April 12 at FLA’s annual award luncheon in Orlando.
Since its Dec. 1 grand opening at the B & A Industrial Park in Stuart, the Friends’ Book Depot has experienced steadily increasing proceeds from sales along with a high volume of donations of books, videotapes, CDs and DVDs. Open weekends, it features a special Children’s Corner, young adult section, and rare, antiquarian and collectible books.
